    Ranger Cottage at Chautauqua Park

    Overview

Want to hike or get out to enjoy Boulder’s wilderness but don’t know where to start? The friendly folks at the Ranger Cottage at Chautauqua Park are an invaluable resource. The cottage is home to a small interpretive center and knowledgeable staff members who will point you to just the right activities and trails for you — whether you’re looking for an easy stroll or a thigh-burning climb. Also find a restroom, free maps, brochures and information about weather, trail conditions and wildlife closures. Hiking, rock climbing, flower identification, wildlife spotting and bird watching are some of the popular things to do here. The cottage is set at the base of Boulder’s iconic Flatirons at the Chautauqua Trailhead, surrounded by open space and the historic Chautauqua District. The cottage and trailhead are the hub of and gateway to Boulder Open Space and Mountain Park activity and information. Don’t miss the Ann Armstrong Memorial Native Garden surrounding the cottage. The Chautauqua Park has a grassy park and playground, and the Colorado Chautauqua dining hall, and auditorium are nearby for more food and fun. Parking is free but can be very busy.
