Bon Appetit named Boulder "America's Foodiest Town" in October 2010. It is home to the recipient of the 2008 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Southwest, the Top Chef Season 5 winner, master sommeliers, a cooking school, the state's best farmers' market and most importantly, people who love to eat. There is a very high concentration of nationally recognized chefs, sommeliers, innovative restaurants and wine programs in this college town of just 103,000.

Boulder Sliced and Diced: A Chef's Guide for Visitors - A new way for travelers to discover Boulder - through the eyes of local chefs - is described in a new guide. Fourteen local chefs lay out their suggestions for spending a day in Boulder. There are itineraries for all types of travelers from foodies, families and fishermen to bicyclists, beer lovers and runners. Boulder Farmers' Market - The Boulder Farmers' Market is ground zero for the town's strong dining scene. The state's largest farmers' market also happens to be the best place to eat local, too. The market takes place outside and there is an area where local chefs are cooking and serving. Grab a plate, sit on the grass next to the creek, and catch a glimpse of the distinct Boulder lifestyle. The market is open Saturdays (8:00 am - 2:00 pm) and on Wednesday afternoons (4:00 - 8:00) there is live music and beer and wine. Get there early Saturday mornings to hear the farmers talk with the town's best chefs for menu ideas and preparation tips. Located downtown on 13th Street between Canyon and Arapahoe. Nine Breweries, Five Wineries, Two Distilleries -
- Beer - Boulder's beer scene is very strong. There are nine breweries in town and they all have tasting rooms with three of them offering regularly scheduled tours. There are weekly guided brewery tours, restaurants offer beer dinners, even the national Brewers Association is based in Boulder.
- Distilleries - The two local craft-distilleries both offer tastings and tours.
- Wine - Boulder is a must-stop on a wine connoisseur's visit to the West. It is home to five wineries; most notable is the Boulder Creek Winery, which has turned heads around the world in wine competitions. In fact, all of the company's wines have medaled in competition. The winery also has the state's best self-guided winery tour.
Taste of Pearl - Pearl Street, and the Pearl Street Mall, is the heart and soul of Boulder and the perfect spot to celebrate Boulder's culinary arts and wine scene. Attendees stroll along the historic Pearl Street Mall - blooming with over 15,000 tulips - enjoying an unforgettable afternoon of tastings inside of some of Downtown Boulder's most vibrant retailers and galleries.
