INTRODUCTION TO COLOR THEORY FOR ARTISTS & ART QUILTERS

    July 22, 10:00am-1:00pm
    $40 Teens | $55 Adults | +$15 Materials Fee

Artist Suzanne Frazier returns to the Dairy! The Introduction to Color Theory workshop focuses on experiencing color as the relationship between rainbows of colors. When a student uses color from this point of view, then there are no “right colors” to be found, rather colors are exciting as they interact with each other. There are so many spontaneous colors to discover! The workshop is not about making art, but about making beautiful, subtle colors. No art experience is necessary to enjoy this workshop. For participants with no art-making experience, you will have the opportunity to discover your creativity in a safe, supportive environment. For experienced artists, the workshop will expand your creative experience to include a meditative approach to your personal expression. During the workshop, Suzanne will introduce her understanding of Color Theory, present a meditative approach to art making and give participants time to create a study of colors or a drawing using oil pastels.

As you begin to discover your unique colors, you will discover you can trust your inner intuitive process to explore ways to access your creativity, support your artistic style and express your heart-centered perspective. There is a great deal of freedom and joy in creating a non-verbal expression of your personal love of color.

The materials fee includes a drawing board, a box of 36 oil pastels, a laminated color wheel, drawing paper and printed handout materials, all of which the students get to take home with them.

Since 1992, Suzanne Frazier has taught oil pastel drawing classes in her studio and art retreats at the Abbey of St. Walburga, The Creative Life Center, and Ghost Ranch. She combines a BFA degree in Studio Arts from the University of Colorado with a BA degree in Philosophy to create a new approach to art making. Suzanne’s art studio is located in Longmont CO.
