In partnership with CU Art Museum, Historic Boulder and CU Boulder’s AIAS chapter, join Month of Modern for a one-of-a-kind House Tour experience in Boulder. See an awe-inspiring group of select Haertling houses that reflect the rich diversity of livable, innovative architecture and design found throughout his buildings.
The tour explores the work of architect, Charles Haertling– the Boulder visionary who, amongst copious contributions to the community, is Boulder’s foremost modern architect of environment-specific organic architecture. The tour will reveal the history and local significance of architectural gems influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, Antonio Gaudi, Bruce Goff and others. Charles Haertling began his architectural practice in 1957, and designed over 40 buildings in and around Boulder. His work endeavored to contribute to the fabric of the city, enhancing the image and spirit of Boulder. To this end he strove to make the work progressive, innovative and exciting, representing the artistic and individualistic nature of the community. This is expressed in a care for contrtolled detail, striving for ideals of space, form, functionality and timelessness.
For one day only, attendees will be given the rare chance to walk through the interiors of some of the most inspiring private homes in Boulder’s neighborhoods. This self-guided tour features seven distinct residences chosen to inspire design professionals and enthusiasts alike.
