Paintings, drawings and etchings of Polly Addison
Location: Dairy Arts Center's Polly Addison Gallery
Polly has a long history within the Boulder art scene and was extremely dedicated to supporting the Dairy in its early years and beyond. Her exhibition in the Polly Addison Gallery is a small selection of the work she produced in the 1980’s. Most were oil paintings or drawings, although she also created sculpture and prints of various types. Two small etchings of her daughters, Annie and Sarah, are on display, along with four drawings, two paintings and a portrait. The four large ‘mall drawings’ are a studies in positive and negative space, rendering the vibrant activity of the Pearl Street Mall. Among Polly’s most profound works are portraits of her mother, Mary, two of which hang in the exhibition.
The Unknown Polly Addison will open on April 26th, starting at 5pm. At 5:30pm, a brief introduction and discussion of the works on view will be made. Meet Polly, her husband Mark, friends, colleagues, curators and local artists. Light fare for attendees, plus drinks available for purchase. All receptions are free and open to the public.
