North Boulder Park is one of Boulder’s loveliest, with south-facing views of the Flatirons and a huge, sprawling lawn to run around on. It’s close to downtown Boulder and a popular picnic spot, with several tables and a restroom (open seasonally). There are also two ball diamonds, fitness equipment, a ping pong table and a half basketball court.
A tot track for little bicyclists provides a smooth dirt track, with small rolling hills and a small wooden bridge.
In wintertime after a good snow, this is a popular place for cross-country skiing.
Little-known Facts:
• North Boulder Park was the starting line for the inaugural Bolder Boulder 10K race in 1979, now a world-famous event that draws 50,000 people.
• It has also been the site for stages of the Red Zinger and Coors Classic bicycle races.
• A special memorial fountain was installed at North Boulder Park in 1976 commemorating Emma Walsh, the daughter of famed Eagles’ musician Joe Walsh, to commemorate Emma's tragic death at age 2.
