Boulder Disc Golf

Little known fact: Boulder has a thriving, passionate disc golf community. If you're a player or want to pick up a fun and social new activity, this is the place. Two of the city's three disc golf courses made the list of top disc golf destination courses in the entire United States, and one of the highest-rated disc golfers in the world, Eagle McMahon, is from Boulder.

Energizing views of the Flatirons, many a bluebird day and mild winters make Boulder an ideal place to try this highly addictive and growing sport. All you need are a few discs, which you can find at the local shops we mention below. Plus, they're light and easy to fit in a suitcase.

Where to Play Disc Golf in Boulder

Valmont Disc Park

This 18-hole course starts on a hill, moves onto a flat prairie, follows a gully and finishes on groomed grass, all with spectacular views. Dogs are allowed and restrooms are available.

You may come across a few small cacti on the grounds of the first seven holes at the Valmont Disc Golf Course, so wear sturdy-soled shoes. 

Harlow Platts Park

This scenic nine-hole course has some slight elevation changes and technical shots. It is a mixed-use public park with picnic tables, tennis, pickleball and playgrounds. Dogs are allowed and restrooms are available.

Flatirons Golf Course Disc Golf Days

Two days each year Flatirons Golf Course opens up for a special disc golf day. Tickets typically sell out fast, and they announce dates on their social media.

Who Is Eagle Wynne McMahon?

Boulder's own disc golf prodigy went pro at just 13 years of age. A decade later, he's one of the most accomplished players in the history of the sport. He grew up playing the Harlow Platts Disc Golf Course in Boulder with his dad, also a formidable disc golf player.
