North Boulder

"NoBo" is quickly shedding its industrial roots to become a place for artists, entrepreneurs and young families. Set against some of the prettiest foothills and lakes, and with a lower profile, this neighborhood is a good one to escape the more bustling energy of downtown. Its rapid growth means there are plenty of great restaurants to choose from, plus a chance to see Boulder’s up-and-coming artists in action.

Things to Do

• Have some good, old-fashioned fun at Gateway Park Fun Center. They have mini golf, batting cages, go karts, an arcade and pretty foothills views.

• Start your day slowly and deliciously with fresh-made pastries from Lucky's, Moxie or Spruce Confections with a side of espresso from Amante or Ruzo. Sit on one of their gloriously sunny patios and soak it all in.

• Take part in the monthly First Friday Art Walk and meet the rising artists of North Boulder. During warmer months you'll also find a variety of food trucks, pop-up vendors and even musical performances throughout the district.

• Sample libations at a winery and brewery — both right next door to one another at BookCiiff Vineyards and Upslope Brewing.

• Stroll the perimeter of shimmering Wonderland Lake and take in views of the foothills or watch for birds. Wonderland Lake has a paved sidewalk and fine-crushed gravel trail, making it accessible to folks using wheelchairs.

• Shop unique thrift stores like (the locally beloved) Boulder Sports Recycler, The Amazing Garage Sale and LOV'D Vintage Denim.
