The Hill Neighborhood

The Hill is an eclectic and historic neighborhood in Boulder that's known for its progressive energy, free-spirited throwback vibes and unpolished charm. As the neighborhood that connects the University of Colorado campus, the historic Chautauqua District at the foot of the Flatirons, and downtown Boulder, this enclave has a big Boulder personality worth exploring. The Hill Highlights

Take some time to simply stroll down University Hill – along 13th Street between Euclid and Broadway – a hub of social activity for students and those who come to enjoy great food, drinks and live music. You'll encounter quirky shops, local cafes and lively bars.

Live Music at the Fox Theatre

Music lovers shouldn't miss the Fox Theatre, a historic venue that was named one of the best places in the U.S. for live music by Rolling Stone magazine. The Fox carries on a decades-long tradition of live music on the Hill, hosting renowned acts of all genres that are worth seeing just about any night of the week.

Street Art

Street Wise Arts has a handful of colorful activism-centered murals scattered throughout the neighborhood engaging viewers in topics like women in STEM and water conservation. Grab a cup of coffee and go on a little scavenger hunt to find them all. You can reference this mural map.

Nick Ryan Gallery

An extraordinary hidden gem on the Hill, the 3,400-square-foot Nick Ryan Gallery boasts two floors of open, airy spaces showcasing national and regional contemporary artists. 

Make Your Own Charm Jewelry

Emi's Charm Bar is a choose-your-own-adventure jewelry shop, where you can build a personalized look for yourself or someone you love. You select a base chain (necklace or bracelet) and then pour over the neatly organized trays of charms to complete your custom jewelry. The shop then assembles it for you the same day. 

Shop Local

The Hill has a number of local shops and boutiques, from Meow Meow, a beloved gift shop packed with artsy gifts and jewelry, to SLCT Stock, a vintage store with vintage tees and trucker hats.

Kitchen on the Hill Food Hall

Given the Hill’s proximity to campus, it’s only fitting that there's a tasty collection of quick, casual eats inside the Hilltop Building. There are various cuisines available, from salads, burgers, Nepali, Thai and more. The setting is a low-key, old-school food court and the food is delicious. 

The University of Colorado Campus

Even if you don’t have CU ties, your time will be well spent taking in the idyllic campus’ architecture, shaded pathways and bustling academic energy. Soak in the tranquil scene at Varsity Lake, an oasis with a stone bridge tucked between lush trees on campus. It's all just feet from the Hill.
