Boulder's Most Surprising Spaces

Leave the boring boardrooms behind at your next corporate retreat or meeting with these truly original venues in Boulder. There's a little something for everyone on this list — history, creative inspiration and even a little bit of quirk — to make your future gatherings feel less like obligations and more like adventures.

In a 1900s Mountain Climbers’ Clubhouse

You might think Chautauqua Community House’s spectacular locale — as close as you can get to Boulder’s iconic Flatirons — would be reason enough to be named on this list, but what sets this venue apart is its lower level, which was the meeting (and gear storage) space for the Rocky Mountain Climbers Club for more than 100 years, starting in 1912. The club called this room their “eternal native homestead,” where they met to organize guided trips, conservation efforts and educational programs to share their love for the beautiful Rocky Mountains. With its original stone walls, roaring fireplace, aspen-filled views and high-end tech, your group can tap into the vibrant, historic energy that fills this space without sacrificing modern amenities.

Beneath an Ornately Hand-Painted Persian Ceiling

Truly the only venue of its kind in the entire state of Colorado, the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is an architecturally dazzling structure that was gifted by Boulder’s sister city in Tajikistan. Lavish decoration and ornate hand-painted and -carved details make this space unlike anything your attendees have experienced before. The intimate, aromatic rose garden can also be rented, where attendees can relax with drinks and taste MICHELIN Guide-recognized dishes or network on the patio perched along the rushing Boulder Creek, fed by headwaters from the Rocky Mountains.

With a Bird’s-Eye View of the Buffs

Arguably the best views in Boulder, CU’s Rooftop Terrace Club sits atop Folsom Field with nearly 14,000 square feet (nope, that's not a typo) of open-air rooftop patio space. With a backdrop of the Flatirons, the football field where Coach Prime leads the CU Buffs, and stadium lights, this venue has some serious buzzy energy, and we guarantee it will wow your attendees. In addition to the patio’s four lounge areas with gas fireplaces, the indoor space has a grand fireplace and a built-in bar, making the whole experience feel luxe and exclusive.

Amid Rhubarb and Goats and Bees, Oh My!

Imagine open windows, a cool mountain breeze, and goats grazing on 11 acres of farmland surrounding a chic barn where your team has gathered to discuss Q1 goals and strategies. Located just one mile north of Pearl Street, the serene Growing Gardens brings the beauty and nostalgia of scenic farm life to your meetings without sacrificing the creature comforts and technological needs of the modern world. Rent their outdoor courtyard tent or host a smaller meeting in the Peace Garden while surrounded by calming flora and fauna.

In a Sacred, Geometrical Building

Despite being a mere 10 minutes from downtown Boulder, when you’re at The StarHouse, you might as well be in another galaxy. Built according to “ancient geometric principles of ideal symmetry,” the axis of StarHouse is aligned with the North Star for cosmic harmony. On the 70 acres of surrounding land are several “sacred sites,” that include two labyrinths, a dodecahedron (a geometric figure with 12 equal pentagonal faces), a water well and a meditation area.

Under a Simulated View of the Cosmos

Let’s be real, no one loves a PowerPoint presentation, but you know what could take it to the next level? Giving it in a planetariumFiske Planetarium, to be exact. Located on the University of Colorado campus, this planetarium's domed theater and lobby can be rented for your next meeting, where you can throw on a full-dome screening, star show, laser performance or play live music via their epic sound system and immersive planetarium dome.

With A River Running Through It

The secluded mountain setting of A Lodge will transport your meeting attendees to the wild, mountainous west. Larger events can take place under the creekside pavilion, directly next to Fourmile Creek, which runs through the property. The beer garden, adorned with charming twinkle lights and an outdoor firepit, is ideal for networking and casual drinks or dining. There is also a more traditional conference room and lounge space inside, decorated in mountain-chic style. Attendees can stay on-site at the lodge (the entire venue can be rented out for single- or multi-day retreats) or shuttle the easy 3.5 miles back to town for more hotel options.

We live and breathe Boulder and are full of creative ideas to delight your attendees. Let's connect!
