Chef Filippo Piccini of Stella's Cucina

Filippo Piccini of Stella's Cucina BoulderBorn and raised in Saturnia, a small, seaside village in Tuscany, known worldwide for its food and wine, Filippo Piccini fell in love with the gastronomic world from an early age. After years of being inspired by his mother's homemade cooking, Piccini attended and graduated from various culinary schools. He worked for some of the best restaurants across Italy and owned and managed a successful restaurant in Italy.

Now, as head chef of Stella’s Cucina, Piccini brings his wealth of knowledge, expertise and creativity to creating world-class menus that highlight traditions from all over Italy.

In 2023, Stella's was added as a recommended restaurant in the esteemed MICHELIN Guide

Filippo's Perfect Day in Boulder

  • As a new resident of Boulder, I’ve been spending a bit of time exploring the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The visual landscape of Colorado reminds me so much of my hometown, Saturnia, in Italy.

  • I spend much time in the kitchen, working closely with staff to develop dishes, stimulating all senses. Even on my days off, I find myself in the kitchen.
  • When I’m not in the kitchen, I spend my mornings at the Museum of Boulder, especially during the warmer months, when they host Yoga on the Roof. Plus you can check out their current exhibitions.
  • After a yoga class, I head to the MASA Seed Foundation’s farm to pick fresh organic produce for myself and the restaurant. I love supporting this foundation because it values community, the evolution and transformation of the modern food system, and much more.

  • I also frequent Mateo’s, an urban locale for French dishes, for lunch or dinner. They emphasize local ingredients paired with wine finds.

  • I’m a huge golfer, so hoping to find the perfect golf course in Boulder to spend time with friends and family. And I'm still exploring and expanding my list of things to do.
