The Twin Lakes open space is known mostly to the locals who live in the surrounding Gunbarrel neighborhood, but this hidden gem is a peaceful respite for anyone. A dirt path rings both lakes, and there are always birds tweeting away. Coyotes make there home here and can be heard in a chorus in the evening. You may also spot turtles, owls and waterfowl. The shores are open to fishers, and a beautiful view toward the Flatirons makes this a lovely place to enjoy sunsets.
The two small lakes were originally created as water storage for agricultural use. Now they are a recreational haven for hikers, birders, joggers, fishers and cyclists. Dogs are allowed on leash. Be aware that there are no restrooms or picnic tables.
