    Ah, summer in Boulder. Things take on a different pace as the days lengthen, a lush canopy of trees comes into full leaf, and outdoor-lovers happily spend even more time outside. It's no wonder Forbes recently named Boulder one of the 20 Best Cities for Travel in Summer. Here are just a few reasons to join in the fun — our list of things to do in Boulder in summer.

    Music just sounds better on a Boulder breeze! 

    • On most summer Mondays, Meadow Music entertains young families on Boulder open space. Chautauqua Park, 5:30-7pm. 2017 dates:
      • June 5, 12, 19 and 26
      • July 3, 11, 24 and 31
      • August 7 and 14
    • Also on Mondays throughout summer, the Boulder Concert Band plays a different Boulder park each week for Concerts in the Park, 7-8pm. 2017 dates:
      • June 26 - Scott Carpenter Park

      • July 10 - Chautauqua Park
      • July 17 - North Boulder Park
      • July 24 - Central Park

    • On Wednesdays, Bands on the Bricks rocks the 1300 Block of Pearl Street. Beer garden at 5:30pm, concert 7-9pm. 2017 lineup:

    • The legendary Red Rocks Park & Ampitheater in nearby Morrison is a summertime must, hosting an unbelievable lineup of bands all season long. It is just a 45-minute drive from Boulder.

    Boulder Farmers Market
    Every Saturday April 1-Nov 18, 2017 (8am-2pm)
    Every Wednesday May 3-Oct 4, 2017 (4-8pm)
    A feast for the eyes, palate and soul! One of the best farmers' markets in the country, with all local producers. Takes place outdoors on 13th Street.

    Chautauqua Summer Concert Series
    June-September 2017
    Summer brings the kickoff to Chautauqua’s series featuring concerts, silent movies, theater, dance, forums and family events — all beside the stunning Flatirons.

    IRONMAN Boulder
    June 11, 2017
    Watch the largest IRONMAN race in the world at the finish line and throughout the day as over 2,000 incredible athletes compete.

    Plein-Air Festival
    June 11-18, 2017
    A week-long celebration, with workshops, receptions, exhibitions, lectures, the chance to create your own art and opportunities to observe 20 master painters while they make their art on location in Boulder.

    Colorado Shakespeare Festival
    June 11-Aug. 13, 2017
    See Shakespeare under the stars at the Mary Rippon Theater on the University of Colorado campus. This festival is consistently among the most critically acclaimed of its kind in the nation.

    Colorado Music Festival
    June 29-Aug. 4, 2017
    This internationally acclaimed festival is held four nights per week for seven weeks at the historic Chautauqua Auditorium, showcasing an orchestra of professional classical musicians from all over the world.

    Boulder Outdoor Cinema
    Saturdays, July-August 
    An open-air celebration of film classics behind the Museum of Contemporary Art. Band at 7:30, movie at dusk.

    July 4, 2017
    A great day of celebrating, 5K/10K run, volleyball tournament, family fun and much more at the beautiful Boulder Reservoir. Spend the day at the res and then head to Folsom Field for fireworks (see below) to find out why Boulder was named one of “America’s Best Towns for July 4th" by Travel + Leisure two years in a row!
